They're very welcome here, my little friends. After this winter I'm delighted to hear and see them back in the branches of my trees. The tree is just outside my study window. Amazing how you can hear them, a virtual uproar of them, but not see a single bird. Camouflage!
Tweet, tweet! Better than a 140-character website.
Tweet on! And enjoy their company along with me:
Sun. Blue sky. Puffy, white clouds. Warm, almost hot, during the day. Cool, almost cold, at night. Perfect.
And you know what else?
My spinach just broke ground!!!! Just saw them this early evening, tiny little sprouts poking their brave little heads above-ground for the first time. It just happened now. There was nothing there this morning.
Yahooo!!!!
Today is Patriot's Day in Boston and a semi-official holiday. Boston is closed down for the holiday and for the Boston Marathon, an annual event on the same day.
My mother is out of the ICU and seems to be doing better, according to my sister. My thanks to all of you for your good wishes and support. My sister also said she's happy with the quality of care our mom is receiving. That's a load off of my mind, to be sure.
I'm in a warm-weather mood, even though the weather here isn't quite cooperating with that spirit. It's cold and very overcast. Nonethless, I'm using lemons, tahini, garlic, and yogurt to whip up some tasty dishes for dinner. We'll have a baked chicken with lemon, Brussels sprouts and rice pilaf. I put together a veggie and pita bread dip with tahini, garlic, yogurt and lemon juice. It's wonderful, and a great way to eat healthy. My brother- and sister-in-law put me onto the idea.
Otherwise, doing a few things here and there. I've been putting a lot of time into business planning and it's starting to show at last. Good!
It's been a busy week, starting with an unexpected intellectual property issue that has yet to be resolved. No harm done other than to my long-term plans, fortunately, and a website that will no longer be getting any of the copy I fork over to them for free.
Just finished writing another chapter in my book, bringing the total number of chapters to 14. I still have a long way to go, but there's significant progress at least. I had a hell of a time writing that chapter. It's more a transition from one theme to another and I needed to make it fit in there properly. I started and stopped more than once, before the prose started to flow on its own. After that it was just a matter of deciding what would happen, and in what order. Not too bad. I had to go back and rip a bunch of stuff up, then start over. I think I may be finally past that. If so, then I can get back to the rest of the book and finally finish up the first draft. Phew!
The hubby sent off a tax extension (sigh), but it looks like we both owe money. We enclosed a deposit to cover most of that. Hopefully, he'll have time to finish up properly this weekend. Other than that, I'm recovering from way too much food at Passover (I'm a non-practicing Catholic, but my husband's family is Jewish). Not that I objected, mind you, but large quantities of rich food is not something we're used to (gratefully!). His family did a terrific job nf the Seder, though, which included two young children and their very tired parents. They decided to hold the Seder on Friday, to accommodate work and travel schedules. Very nice overall. Easter was not a big deal. I basically spent the day reading or walking.
It's still cold, although the rain has let up. I'm tired of being cold morning, noon and night. Still, at least it's warmed up enough so that it's possible to walk almost every day. I like that part.
I think I'm going to go back to reading, now. Lots of activity at the computer keyboard today and my hands are a bit sore from it!
Went for a walk with a recorder and a camera. Made it a video. Spring is coming...just barely!
We've had two whole days of nice weather. That's quite the change from the norm, which has been one storm and cold front after another for months. Granted, I do live in the US Northeast so it's not like that's all that out of the ordinary. It's been colder and nastier than most winters, though, and I will be heartily glad to see the end of it.
Out walking again, too. The hubby and I checked some new rail trails and ended up skirting lots of mud and snowy patches. Even with that, it was nice. This afternoon I took a walk with a friend of mine who's trying to set up her own business and - like me - wants an income stream from it, thank you very much. We talked, we brainstormed, we joked and enjoyed each other's company as much as we enjoyed the warm spring air.
Hope this keeps up. I could use a weather break.
Still not sleeping. At this point I'm waiting for a migraine so I can get back onto the sleep medication and get a good, sound eight hours.
